Tolworth vs Morden Test Centre: Which Should You Choose?

4 min read · Kings Driving Centre, Tolworth

We teach learners for both Tolworth and Morden test centres every week, and it is one of the first questions pupils ask: which one is easier? The honest answer is that neither is easy, but they test you in different ways.

The two centres

  • Tolworth: Douglas House, 1B Douglas Road, Tolworth KT6 7RZ.
  • Morden: 10 Tudor Drive, Morden SM4 4PE.

Pass rates at both centres have recently been close to the national figure, where roughly half of tests are passed, with Tolworth usually a few points ahead. The gap is small enough that the centre matters far less than how prepared you are.

What Tolworth tests

Speed and lanes. Tolworth Roundabout under the A3, joining and leaving fast dual carriageway, and the A240 with its changing speed limits. If you are confident with lane discipline and merging, Tolworth plays to that. Our guide to the hardest junctions around Tolworth covers them one by one.

What Morden tests

Busy town driving. Routes around Morden tend to involve the town centre and its traffic, bus lanes, larger roundabouts such as Rose Hill, dual carriageway such as St Helier Avenue, and residential streets with 20 mph zones and speed cushions. It rewards patience, planning and reading signs early.

Instructor tip

Choose the centre whose roads you practise on most. Familiarity with the area is worth more than a couple of percentage points on a pass rate table.

How the 2026 rules affect your choice

Under the 2026 booking rules, you can only move your test to one of the three nearest test centres, and you get two changes after booking. So pick your centre carefully at the start rather than planning to hunt around later. See the 2026 driving test booking rules.

Our approach

Our lessons and prices are the same for both centres, and our test cover is available at Tolworth and Morden. We teach on the local roads of whichever centre you choose, then run a mock test there before your real one.
