Ways to Pay for Driving Lessons: Cards, Amex and Klarna
Learning to drive is a real expense, so how you pay matters. Here are the options we accept and what to think about before choosing one.

Debit and credit cards
We accept all major debit and credit cards, including American Express. Under UK law, businesses cannot add a surcharge for paying with a consumer debit or credit card, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Spreading the cost with Klarna
If you would rather not pay for a block of lessons in one go, you can spread the cost with Klarna. Klarna shows you the repayment options and any costs before you agree, so you can choose what fits your budget.
Borrow carefully
Klarna is a form of credit. Only use it if you can comfortably make every repayment, as missed payments can affect your ability to borrow in future.
Since 15 July 2026, buy now pay later products like Klarna are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Lenders now have to check you can afford repayments, give clear information upfront, and support you if you struggle to pay, and you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service if something goes wrong.
Paying for a block
Block bookings are where paying upfront saves you money. A 30-hour block works out at £35 an hour against £40 pay as you go, and prepaid hours are valid for 12 months. Combining a block booking with Klarna lets you get the lower rate without paying it all at once.
Which to choose
- Paying as you go: a card per lesson keeps it simple.
- Committed to learning: a block booking gives the best hourly rate.
- Want the block rate but need to spread it: Klarna.
